Categorisation into your category tree

Not by keywords but by evidence. A product is categorised automatically only when at least two independent sources agree.

Why name-based rules fail

The rule “number + g in the name = spinning lure” also sends rods, feeders and leads to the wrong category. The word “Fluoro” in a lure name is a colour, not fluorocarbon line, and “X8” is a bite alarm model, not an 8-strand braid. Errors like these go unnoticed and happen at scale.

How we categorise

  1. Manual confirmation always takes priority and is never overwritten.
  2. Supplier category mapping that you confirm once also applies to the supplier’s new products.
  3. Reference shops: the same EAN in online shops you choose, with their category mapped to your tree.
  4. AI based on definitions of your categories: what belongs in a category and what doesn’t.
  5. Sanity check: a product that doesn’t resemble the others in its group (e.g. a spare quiver tip among rods) is assessed separately.

Additional trees

Besides the main tree, you can add further trees, for example by intended use. A product has one main category and also appears in the additional trees wherever the evidence says it belongs.
