Why products don’t get matched on Heureka and how to fix it

Comparison sites · 5 min read

An unmatched product appears on the comparison site outside the product page, where customers are unlikely to find it. The causes are almost always the same, and you can fix most of them in the feed data.

Missing or invalid EAN

The most common cause. Check that the EAN has the correct length and a valid check digit. Never make up an EAN: if it’s missing, look for it at another supplier with the same product code, in the description or on the manufacturer’s website.

Manufacturer written differently

“BRAND”, “Brand” and “Brand Ltd.” are three different brands for a comparison site. Unify how the manufacturer is written across the whole catalogue.

Name without a model

Comparison sites also match by name. The format “manufacturer + model + key attribute” works best. Marketing adjectives and capital letters don’t help matching.

Shared EAN across a series

If a whole series has one EAN, the comparison site merges different sizes into one product page. Don’t send such an EAN to the comparison site and group the series via a common variant code.

Comparison-site category

Assign your categories to Heureka categories. An assignment set once applies to all products in the category.
